I can't believe it

The hard drive on my laptop is dead. This is where I had an archive of all my digital photos since 2001. Yes, I do have copies elsewhere. Yes, I am still pissed off, royally. I liked how my photos were organized on that computer. And there were some files (not photos) that I don't have backups of. Not important enough to justify paying big $$$ for data recovery. A couple of movies that I downloaded but haven't watched yet. A tiny collection of mp3's. A handful of recipes. So... not what you would call a disaster really, but boy am I kicking myself! I should have been backing EVERYTHING up, not just photos and work stuff.

А я совсем недавно (во время рождественских каникул) думала, что хорошо бы устроить глобальный бэкап и чуть не купила external hard drive для этой цели, но руки так и не дошли.

a, kstati, u nas kak raz external i poletel. na nem vse fotografii hranili. muzyka i t.p. - eto fignya po sravneniyu s. u roditelej byla chast' nashih fotok s dochkoj. no vot fotografii beremennosti, rodov i intimnyh momentov s rebenkom - etogo ne bylo ni u kogo. ;(
